Hi List, Just yesterday I found on Genealogybank a photo of my grandmother on the front page of the New Orleans States, dated March 23, 1917. It seems my grandfather was one of five survivors when a U-boat torpedoed his ship, theHealdton off Rotterdam. My grandmother is seen in the photo looking at my dad, then at age 14, as she was told of his survival. My question is, does anyone know if the newspaper keeps on file, their original photos? Thanks, Sally
I would doubt that they still have the photo. They probably cleaned out a lot when they merged, moved, etc. But such a photo would be worth at least making an inquiry.
