Thursday, March 13, 2008 RootsWeb To Be Hosted on Ancestry.com Posted by Diane The Generations Network (TGN) CEO Tim Sullivan announced today that the free genealogy Web site RootsWeb will be transplanted to the domain of the subscription site Ancestry.com beginning next week. Instead of going to rootsweb.com, you’ll log on to rootsweb.ancestry.com. RootsWeb will otherwise stay the same and stay free, says Sullivan. “This move will not change the RootsWeb experience or alter the ease of navigation to or within RootsWeb. RootsWeb will remain a free online experience.” Old URLs will work; you won’t need to update any bookmarks. The reason for the change is to get more people to move back and forth between Ancestry.com and RootsWeb. According to the announcement, only 25 percent of visitors to Ancestry.com visited RootsWeb in January 2008, and only 20 percent of visitors to RootsWeb visited Ancestry.com. Anyone interested in these 2 old photos of my great Uncle Edwin Chapman and his classmates. I don't know any other names.The graduates are lined up on the steps of the school. the other two men are carring flags.Maybe school flags.The others are girls dressed in pretty long dresses and hats of the time. Thanks Rita. I just went to check Alibris.com and 2 of the booksellers have copies listed for $199.44 and $114.88. I wonder if these are "gold leaf" or 18k ha-ha-ha I wonder why the cost is so high on a paperback. When I checked Amazon.com they had a new one listed for $17.95. The reason I was looking to buy this book is because my Uncle Joe Cangiamilla (my dad's brother) was a contributor. He was big in politics for many years, but always behind the scene. I used to enjoy listing to his stories of things that happened and people he knew. Judy, Which edition of Vacherie is the silver book? And what is the difference in the two books? I know the first one was published in 1989, and the author updated it in 2001.
