    3. Thanks Norm. That is what I found. That Joseph could be Frantz Joseph Gulung. Still have no idea of what Katherina S._____ last name. I will have to try and go to the library to see if I can find the Holy Trinity records for their children and to send off for a copy of the marriage record for Jacob & Katherina.Could theAntione who married Rosine maybe his second marriage. Because the wifeCathrine Herin of Antoine died in 1825 according to these records. What do you think? 1. [LAORLEAN] lists of names
    2. RHB
    3. Thank you for doing this, Joan. I opened your email with my list of names before I saw the message below on Laorlean, so I replied to it with a "???" as a subject header, as I wasn't sure what it was all about. Also, I'm the one who mentioned the possibility of "Louisiana" only. What I had in mind is the following: my gedcom has 5000 names in it. Many are from Maryland, Kentucky, Ohio, and overseas. These folks had nothing to do with Louisiana or New Orleans. So, it occured to me that with each person on the list giving his or her long list of names, limiting the list of names to those who lived in "local" [or nearby states like Mississippi] would help to keep these lists from becoming too unwieldly. It also seemed more appropriate to a list which is named LAORLEAN. But maybe I'm missing something. Anyway, it was just a suggestion. Obviously you should do whatever you are comfortable with. And, again, thank you for your help. Either, look at the list I sent and: Say: Add: Name 1 Name 2 Name 3 Delete: Name 4 Name 5 Or Say Entire List is Correct Or Say Delete Entire List And Replace it with Entire List as follow: Name 1 Name 2 Name 3 In any case, if you any comment belonging to a name (place, etc), put it in parentheses to the right of the name. The purpose of the Roll Call document is that it will be sorted on the genealogically relevant Last Name. Joan

    1. Re: [LAORLEAN] Finding Gullungs in the IGI
    2. Norm Hellmers
    3. Hello Judy, The IGI can be a great resource. I found the place of origin of one of my families in Germany using the IGI. I also checked out the IGI for Gullungs in Zinswiller. I found what presumably are Jacob/Jacques' parents (Jean Jacques Gullung and Charlotte Breiner) and four siblings. Based on the records, the parents of Jean Jacques were Antoine Gullung and Catherine Hien. It appears they had at least eight children. There were many Breiners in Zinswiller and one possibility for a Charlotte, but I couldn't find a record to link her to your family. The original church record of the Gullung-Breiner marriage might help. Below are the Gullungs that I found and their relationships: Antoine GULLUNG Catherine HIEN m. ca 1795 1. Antoine, b. 10 Sep 1796 2. Jean, b. 1797, d. 4 Apr 1844 3. Thiebaut, b. 3 Sep 1802 m. Catherine Dreyer, 15 Jun 1840 4. Frantz Joseph, b. 5 Sep 1805 5. Catharina, b. 2 Jun 1808 6. 3. Weird, the thought of that happening just crossed my mind the other day when I posted a query concerning my mothers maiden name. 3. Judy, How exciting that you have those Bible records. Wonderful! This gives you strong evidence that you have the right person. (Catherine's birth date will come in handy later.) The name and date that I sent to you (Jacques Gullung, born 25 Jun 1834) came from FamilySearch's IGI. Let's have you give it a shot. Go to FamilySearch.org. Click on the tab that says "SEARCH." On the left, click on "International Genealogical Index." (This is known as the "IGI," names and dates that have been extracted from a variety of records. Thankfully for you, it includes Zinswiller, Bas Rhin, France.) In the search form that comes up, enter Gullung in the "Last Name" box to the left. Then under "Region," select "Continental Europe." (DON'T check "Use Exact Spelling." Hit "Search." You should get 37 "hits." Some of these are duplicates, but you should be able to create families from this data, including Jacques (Jacob) Gullung and his parents and siblings, and it looks like, perhaps, his grandparents. Give it a try and see what you come up with. Let me know if you have any problems. Norm --- Judy Fisher <jzamboni@cox.net> wrote: > Located my picture of the family bible.
