    3. Joan, Thank you so very much for all this work. Your researcher/names list is a tremendous help for everyone right now, and it will be of use for years to come. We all unearth new branches every so often and it will be great fun to find connections from those who've been on that trail before us. Great job! Terry Urban, Brooklyn NY

    3. Very helpful, and again thanks for all the work on this and sending it to all of us. Jan S - Orlando, FL -------Original Message------- From: [email protected] Date: 8/25/2010 10:58:16 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [LAORLEAN] Roll Call Clarification It seems that we need some clarification about what Roll Call is. The members of the list have given me a set of names that they are researching. One of the documents that I provided to you early Wednesday morning was a list of the names that each person was researching and the researcher's name and email address, in email address order. Each person being researched by that researcher was on one line of the document. That document started off as an Excel Spreadsheet. I then took the document, and sorted it on the first column. That means that everyone in the group researching a certain name will have that name drawn together with all of the other researchers, pulling the email addresses together. The point is to inform you of who else is interested in the surnames that you are researching. Since not everyone is able to deal with Microsoft Excel, and almost everyone is capable of dealing with PDF files, I converted my outcome to PDF files. (Craig, are you my exception to that rule?) Since the LAORLEAN List cannot take on attachments, I took the list of email addresses from the document, and split it in half, and sent the two documents to each name on the list. Also, I sent an email to the LAORLEAN List with the list of email addresses that I had sent to. Thus, if your address what not on that list, you need to tell me what your old email address was, and I will change the document. If you were not on the old document, I'll need to get your list of names being researched. Is this being helpful yet? Get back to me with questions if you have them. 1. [LAORLEAN] Hope Mausoleum
    2. I just received an obit from the Times-Picayune wherein the interment is listed as Hope Mausoleum. The individual died on April 16, 1960.  Where is this site located in New Orleans.  No other information is given. Helen McCarthy

    1. [LAORLEAN] Roll Call Clarification
    2. It seems that we need some clarification about what Roll Call is. Joan Schaefer

    2. Listers, Might I make a suggestion? With the relatively cheap (as compared to last year) cost of external hard disks and with the ever present fear of a computer crash. I have added two externals to my setup, you can reduce it to one if desired. Just think about that small hard disk being accessed continuously and working it's heart out just for you. Since many of the newer computers do not contain a 3-1/4 floppy you can backup all of your data to the hard disks, I only use the internal hard disk to store the programs. All data goes to the external disks, then when I do periodic backups I copy the actual file and do not use the backup capability. Right now I am operating off of my laptop with the same hard disk that I use with my Desk Top (it's being upgraded and cleaned up). This also gives the freedom of taking a hard disk with me on trips, provides me with copies of whatever else I might need. I stay away from the memory sticks have had too many failures. The 2nd hard disk goes into a fire proof safe, Safety Deposit box or a relatives home. Just some suggestions. Always looking for STAUDER/STOUDER connections in LA or anywhere else.
