Mathurin is believed to have originated from Neuilli-sur-Eure, France. He Prob. came to Québec in 1643. It's likely this is the same Mathurin Landry who is listed as godfather of two indigenous children baptized that summer by Jesuit missionaries in Trois-Rivieres. Pierre, the jilted lover, confronted Guillaume and demanded 50 livres in damages. On 21 Sept 1659, Guillaume agreed before the notary to pay the amount to Pierre. Guillaume & Gabrielle married about a month later, on 14 Oct 1659 in Québec. They settled on the Ile d'Orléans. The couple was among the earliest settlers to Sainte Famille. The 1667 census records Guillaume's age as 40 & his wife as being 25; they had 15 arpents of land under cultivation. The 1681 census shows they had 4 cattle.
