Don, I believe the Joseph M. Landry to be the same as Josef Maria Landry. The name of the wife is Marguerite Francoise Pivauteaux/Pivoteau/Pivoto. Let me start with my GG Grandparents on back. Claire Lapointe, d. of Vital Lapointe and Marie Aveline Landry m. Aurelien Hargrave, s. of James Hargrave and Sarah Walker. Marie Aveline Landry d. of Joseph Maria Landry and Marguerite Francoise Pivoteau m. Vital Lapointe s. of Pierre Lapointe and Isabelle (Elizabeth) Broussard. Joseph Maria Landry s. of ???? b. abt. 1750 m. Marguerite Francoise Pivoteau d. of Guillaume (William) Pivoteau and Louise Duquette/Laquet/St. Eustache. With every baptism the last name was different. Marguerite was b. June 2, 1764. I have been told that Joseph is the some of either Rene Landry and Rose Marie Rivet or Augustine Landry and Anne Rivet. So far I have not been able to prove or disprove either one. I haven't done enough research into the Landry side to be sure of my facts. From what I have been able to gleam so far, Augustine and a second wife, Marie Babin had another son by the name of Joseph. If I have these facts straight. I would be very interested in knowing one way or the other. It does make it interesting that the witnesses at their (Joseph and Marguerite) wedding was Blas Rivet and Josef Landry.
