Members of the Imperial St. Landry Genealogical & Historical Society Internet Site and other Landrys I recieved the following e-mail inquiry from Shirley Domingue Metrejean at: smetrejean@jam.rr.com (Shirley Metrejean) concerning the Opelousas Drug Store and a Mr. A. L. Landry, who along with 3 physicians were partners in the Opelousas Drug Store. Can anyone help her?? ========== "Good Morning Don, I am doing research in order to write my father's biography and a history of the Opelousas Drug Store. I found the original incorporation papers (on the Internet) that are on file with the LA Secretary of State dated May 24, 1919. I have not seen the original document but my brother who has them told me one the four gentlemen listed was "Mr. A. L. Landry." The other three partners were doctors. This has stirred my curiosity about Mr. Landry. Do you have any information about him that you would be willing to share? Not necessarily his ancestry; but personal information like his date of birth, date of death, spouse, and his profession. I am wondering if he was a pharmacist. It was not unusual back then for doctors and pharmacists to be in business together. In 1921, Mr. Landry was not listed as one of the owners of the store. My thoughts perhaps he had passed away. I do know that one of the doctors had died within that 2 year period. To avoid doing a major "no-no" I asked Yvon if this was proper subject matter for Acadian-Cajun. He thanked me for asking and preferred that I not post history questions to the list. I have learned so much from his list that I didn't want to chance being "kicked off." Thank you for your attention, Shirley Domingue Metrejean Please send any replies to me at: don2717@aol.com as well as to Shirley Domingue Metrejean at:
