We have a genealogic tree made by the Institut Drouin that says that Rene Landry dit Le Jeune is my ancestor, the one who came from France... I am in France now and just about to go to La Ventrouze, Orne to try to find more about this; but I just read about all the errors about Jean-Claude (Landry?) =============== Jean-Benoit: LEAVE THE JEAN_CLAUDE LANDRY THING ALONE. Dont waste your time in France on that question. Things you should check out while in France: Francois Roux, an Acadian descendant who lives in France and is willing to help those researching there. his e-mail address is: f.roux@wanadoo.fr Also while surfing the internet, I came across a most gratious and generous person by the name of Barbara Reed who sent me a collection of photographs of the Stone Church at LaChaussée and the Acadian Farm Village at Archigny. Barbara and her husband Chris live at Paizay le Sec, which is a village between Chauvigny and St. Savinoperate, where they converted an old barn next to their house into a spacious Gîte. For those who are not familiar with a Gîte, Barbara describes it as a "Bed and Breakfast" where you make your bed and cook your own breakfast. You can visit Barbara and Chris's home page at: http://www.interpc.fr/mapage/barbara/homepage.htm or contact her by e-mail at: barbara@interpc.fr or write: Le Tilleul. 86300 Paizay le Sec, France. Phone on (+33) 5 49 46 87 89 or Fax (+33) 5 49 46 13 01 A;lso if you visit Paris, There is an organization there "France-Louisiane/France Americaine that will be happy to assist you and point you in the right direction. While in Paris visit the church of St, germain l'Auxxerois, where there is a chapel dedicated to Saint landry, bishop of paris and founder of Hotel Dieu de Paris. The chapel has a number of beautiful paintings (frescoes) of the life of Saint Landry. Also visit the Acadian Farm Village at Archigny. back on the subject of Rene Landry, lejeune, Michèle Touret, présidente association "Acadie, Naissance d'un pruple" La Grande Traversée", while visiting in New Orleans, told me that there is some speculation that rene Landry, lejeune was the son of Vincent landry, notary from LaChaussee, who recruited the settlers for the colony in Acadia. here are a few e-mail address where she may be contacted, or they may know how to contact her. house-acadie@wanadoo.fr or Acadie_np@post.club-internet.fr I hope this information is some helpto you while you are in France.
