Have details of her Landry and Huguenin ancestors. ========= Sarah: I am the historian for the Landry Family Association in Louisiana and am interested in finding more information on the Landrys in Switzerland, particularily the family of Jean Jacques Henry Landry. There is a Swiss line of Landrys in Louisiana whose progenitors were Jean Jacques Henry Landry son of Jean Jacques Landry and Susanne Catherine Frasse of the Canton of Neuchatel, Switzerland, who according to his passport, left the Canton of Neuchatel, Switzerland and arrived in Philadelphia in 1817 at age 27. Jean Jacques Henry was born sometime in 1790 in the Canton of Neuchatel, Switzerland. He grew up in Switzerland where he was trained to be a wheelwright. He left Switzerland and traveled to Amsterdam, sometime before 1817, when according to his passport that is in the possession of Ms. Orey B. LaCoste of Lafayette, Louisiana, he arrived in Philadelphia to work as a wheelwright. He married Susanne Celestine Sandoz, who was also a native of the Canton of Neuchatel, Switzerland. Suzanne was the daughter of Jean Henri Sandoz (Jean Jacques Sandoz and Sara Marguerite Diacon) and Suzanne Amez Droz (Abram Henri Droz de Villiers and Susanne Marguerite Maumary), of Dombresson, Canton of Neuchatel, Switzerland, where she was born on 30 December, 1803. She arrived in America in 1829 with her parents and her 4 brothers. Jean and Suzanne settled in St. Martinville in the 1830s, and their progeny are concentrated in the Lafayette, Louisiana area. The records assume that Jean Jacques Henri Landry and Susanne Celestine Sandoz made their home in Lafayette sometime in the early 30's. I would appreciate amy and all information you can provide on this family. Don Landry don2717@aol.com
