    2. Viola Seward
    3. Well again i am at a loss for words!! But my Marie is really my brick wall. Will give you exactly what i have which is very little. O.K. Marie Landry born ca 1800 in British Columbia. Father worked at Hudson Bay Company. Marie married Duncan McDougall and had daughter Catherine McDougall in 1818 in British Columbia as well as Marie. . Now Duncan was a womanizer or rascal or both as he became father to another child same year his daughter Catherine was born. Duncan died Oct or Nov 1818 near lake Winnipeg. Maries daughter Catherine married Raphael Tremblay and they ran a store at Lac la Biche,Alberta. Never found any more on Marie Landry McDougall. Unless she remarried which i assume she did as she was only ca 18 when her husband died. But also one of Maries granddaughters was named Marie Angeline Adele Tremblay. So have been wondering if Marie Angeline Adele could also be my Marie Landrys real name. All guess work after that except read where a Marie Landry married a Thiabault or spelled some thing like that. Thank you ever so much. Viola.

You have to know the we had certain difficulties to find a place where the reunion would be held for the reason that most halls were not available at the dates we needed them. Till now the reunion will be held the 28th and 29th of July 2001 and we plan to have it at the Louis-Mailloux High School in Caraquet. The reunion would begin by a formal meeting the Saturday afternoon followed by a meal and a social night with a live music band. The main event of this night will be the presentation of the genealogic dictionary of the Alexis Landry family descendants, "Tome I", which have been realized by Paul Landry. Paul is originally from Pont-Landry, N.B. The Sunday morning there will be a mass at the Saint-Anne du Bocage Shrine, site where Alexis Landry settled with his family after the Acadian deportation of 1755 and became one of the founders of the town of Caraquet. We will close the reunion with a brunch after the mass. Next May, we will send you the details of the reunion like the exact program of activities, the fee for attending, a list of the places (hotels, etc) where you can stay in the area and the person to contact. We have available: T-Shirts with the Landry Family Coat of arms in sizes: medium, large and extra-large priced at only ?15.00, tax included. My ggggrandmother was Marie Landry who was born ca 1800 in British Columbia. More then likely at or near the Hudson Bay Company. Marie Landry supposedly married Duncan McDougall and had daughter Catherine McDougall in 1818. Cannot find any info on my Marie Landry but will not quit looking. It has to be in some ones Bible or tree some where. At this time grasping for any answers or straws. Thank you. Viola.

    1. Introduction
    2. Don Landry
    3. I first became interested in genealogy in 1979. I soon obtained a completed genealogy of my LANDRY ancestors when I contacted Societe historique Nicolas-Denys, a historical Society based in Northern New Brunswick. A number of years passed and around the time desktop computers started to appear I found the internet and Yvon CYR's website. From then on I have slowly learned more and more about the LANDRYs and Acadians in general. Through internet mailing lists and the LANDRYFAMILY website I met many helpful people and in return tried to help others looking for their LANDRY roots. Suffice it to say I am a descendant of Rene Le juine. My most direct ancestor is Alexis LANDRY one of the co-founders of Caraquet,New Brunswick; one of the many Acadians that avoided deportation in 1755. My most recent interest is in archaeological digs at Beaubassin ( an Acadian village located on the Fort Lawrence Ridge in what is now Nova Scotia,Canada. ) My interest is based on the fact that Alexis lived there with his family up until the French burned the village in 1750 to force the Acadians living there to move across the Missaguash River into what is now New Brunswick. I have just recently obtained archaeological reports from Parks Canada which outline a number of areas in the Chignecto area ( the isthmus between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick ) that were researched in 1968 and later. I am more or less the family historian and I hope to pass my research on to my descendants. I would be glad to hear from anyone with questions regarding the above. Don Landry Ottawa,Ontario Canada

    3. Hi Folks: The following message is posted for the benefit of "new" members of this LANDRY Mailing List and will be re-posted on an ongoing basis. --------------------------------------------------------------- (If you haven't already done so), may I encourage EVERY subscriber to tell us a little bit about themselves by posting a BRIEF message to the Mailing List to tell everyone about their interest in genealogy, something along these lines... --------------------------------------------------------------- SAMPLE MESSAGE: "My name is Yvon Cyr and I am the Listowner of over two dozen Rootsweb Mailing Lists, including this one. I'm originally from Grand Falls, New Brunswick... right smack in what has become known as the Madawaska Territory where so much wonderful Acadian history has been written. I now live in Ontario, Canada. My late father was Robert CYR (born February 2, 1910); my deceased mother Annie OUELLETTE (born May 14, 1914) and I am married to Judy THERIAULT, the daughter of Eugene (born March 11, 1892) and Alice MICHAUD (born May 5, 1896) [the main four surnames I am researching]. I have over 110,000 (directly related) names in my personal data and have produced two Acadian-Cajun Genealogy CD's with over one million names combined (with complete pedigree). It don't get much more Acadian than that! <grin> I am the Webmaster of the Acadian Genealogy Homepage which may be viewed at URL address: http://www.acadian.org where details of my CD's are posted. I encourage Acadian-Cajun webmasters to add links to their own web site, by visiting http://www.acadian.org/hotlinks/ Working in conjunction with KH&A Printing Inc., I can now assist in providing beautiful family tree wall charts... as you've never seen before! For complete details, connect to http://www.acadian.org/charts.html -------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE 1: Try to keep your message as genealogy-related as possible. For example, you might want to include your direct (Acadian-Cajun) lineage, as far back as you have been able to trace same. HOWEVER, keep in mind that the _size_ of your message cannot exceed 20 K bytes... otherwise it will be rejected by the Rootsweb software. NOTE 2: Please use your own SURNAME in the "Subject Heading" of your message. For example, an appropriate "Subject" for my message might have been... "CYR, Yvon; Introduction". This will ensure that the message is properly archived. Thanks. NOTE 3: Please do NOT include a _long_ list of surnames in your message (unless it is in your direct lineage). Include only the FOUR main surnames you are researching. NOTE 4: Don't send your message to ME. Post it directly to the Mailing List for all your cousins to see, by sending it to: LANDRY-L@rootsweb.com [For those who are posting to the List for the first time, please note that the word "request" is NOT included in the address and is only used to subscribe or unsubscribe to/from the Mailing List]. My family line as far as i know to this date can only go back to my great-great-grandfather, James (Jimmie) Landry. There is some discrepancy as to when he was born. I have checked both the 1891 and 1901 Glouchester parish New Brunswick census in which he is listed as 60 yrs old (birthdate unknown) at the time of both censuses. So he was either born around 1830 or 1840 (you gotta love geneology i have bald patches from where i have pulled out clumps of hair). He Married Louise (maiden name unknown) ba=1837. 3. Hi Folks: The following message is posted for the benefit of "new" members of this LANDRY Mailing List and will be re-posted on an ongoing basis. --------------------------------------------------------------- Every SUNDAY evenings starting at 7:00 PM (Eastern time), all Acadian-Cajun cousins are invited to meet in the ACADIAN-CAJUN Chat Room located at: http://www.acadian.org/chat.html This is your opportunity to "TALK" with all your Acadian-Cajun friends and cousins. Won't you join in? PS: If this is your first time "at the party", you may want to arrive a bit early, in order to have the opportunity to check things and figure out how to enter the 'Chat room". PSS: As we all know, the Mailing List is primarily intended for genealogy-related discussions however, there are times when subscribers might want to discuss a subject matter not quite suitable for the Mailing List. Obviously the ACADIAN-CAJUN Chat Room is an excellent medium for this purpose. While the regularly scheduled Sunday meeting (7:00 PM Eastern) is a _weekly_ happening for the subscribers of this LANDRY Mailing List, keep in mind that anyone...at anytime...can meet to "talk" in the Chat Room. Just (privately) send each other an e-mail message and decide what date/time you want to meet. Then, at the pre-arranged time, click on the URL address: http://www.acadian.org/chat.html ...and follow instructions there, for your get-together.
