Real Belanger at real_2012@hotmail made the following inquiry: =========== I'm from Vald'Or P.Q, and I'm also trying to find my way from Charles Landry backwards. My grandmother was one of his daughters. Her name was Amélie-Anne Landry. She died 16 december 1990 in Vald'Or. I really hope someone can help us get that Landry line. Thank you. +++++++++++++++++ Response: What was the date and place of birth, death and marriage of Charles Landry. What was the name of his wife, The names of his other children. What was the date and place of your grandmother Amélie-Anne Landry's birth and marriage? What was the name of her husband and the names of her children? If she died on 16 december 1990 in Val d'Or, the local newspaper should have her oibituary and the obituary would have the names of her parents and maybe her siblings, her husband and her children listed. If her family lived at Val d'Or, the parish church at Val d'Or should have a record of her birth death, marriage and the names of her parents. The church may have the records of her parents and grandparents as well. Send me as much of this information as you can find and I will check to see if I can place this family on my Landry database, Don Landy don2717@aol.com

Hi Folks: The following message is posted for the benefit of "new" members of this LANDRY Mailing List and will be re-posted on an ongoing basis. --------------------------------------------------------------- Every SUNDAY evenings starting at 7:00 PM (Eastern time), all Acadian-Cajun cousins are invited to meet in the ACADIAN-CAJUN Chat Room located at: http://www.acadian.org/chat.html This is your opportunity to "TALK" with all your Acadian-Cajun friends and cousins. Won't you join in? PS: If this is your first time "at the party", you may want to arrive a bit early, in order to have the opportunity to check things and figure out how to enter the 'Chat room". PSS: As we all know, the Mailing List is primarily intended for genealogy-related discussions however, there are times when subscribers might want to discuss a subject matter not quite suitable for the Mailing List. Obviously the ACADIAN-CAJUN Chat Room is an excellent medium for this purpose. While the regularly scheduled Sunday meeting (7:00 PM Eastern) is a _weekly_ happening for the subscribers of this LANDRY Mailing List, keep in mind that anyone...at anytime...can meet to "talk" in the Chat Room. Just (privately) send each other an e-mail message and decide what date/time you want to meet. Then, at the pre-arranged time, click on the URL address: http://www.acadian.org/chat.html ...and follow instructions there, for your get-together. PSSS: You must have your Internet Browser (Netscape, Explorer etc.) java-enabled. If you are not certain how to do this, contact your Internet Service Provided for assistance. YVON L. The reason I keep trying to make this connection is that I have my Grandfathers Batismal certificate (posted earlier here for a better translation) and it names Caroline Paradis and Onesime Landry, as the parents of Joseph Landry b. 15JUL1883 St. Pascal, Kamouraska (ie. my Grandfather). In prior postings I was directed to look at Jean-Baptiste Landry b. abt 1801 in Kamouraska, PQ m. (Marie) Modeste Potvin (Poitevin) b. 24NOV1798 offspring. Apparently they only had 3 offspring 2 females and Guillaume Landry (1 son to carry that line) If Guillaume is the father of Onesime then the connection is made. Maybe they had more than 3 children, but I cannot find where they did. (you have way more info than I can get ahold of) You also list Joseph m. Anne Ploudre, could this be my Grandathers 1st wife? Caroline was wife #2? Or Guillaume is actually my GGandfather instead of Onesime? Thanks again for any information. Jerry Landry II jerrylandry@hotmail.com

I am reposting the following message, because the title may have been misunderstood: In a message dated 8/26/01 11:22:02 AM Central Daylight Time, Charlie Hoffpauir at: charlieh@wt.net is interested in the genealogy of Ralph W. Landry, whose brother (name unknown) was bn 28 Aug 1911 and death as 17 Apr 1991 in Lafayette. My response was: First I would suggest that the lafayette Newspaper be searched for his brother's obituary, which should provide the names of his survivers as well as the names of his parents, etc.. Second, if you can get the names of a relative, such as brother, uncle etc, who was born prior to 1910 (preferrably before 1900) then I suggest that you check with Father Donald J. Hebert's "Southwest Louisiana Records". These research books can be found in most if not all of the parish libraries. If anyone can help Charlie, please contact him at charlieh@wt.net (Charlie Hoffpauir) Don Landry don2717@aol.com

As you know Firmin Landry was deported and exiled to Maryland with his first wife Francoise dit Elizabeth Thibodeau (parents unknown). At the time he was deported he and Francoise had two sons Joseph (my ancestor) and Saturin (who never married). They remained in exile for about 11 years and were enumerated in the 1763 census at Oxford. At the time of the census Francoise had two more children (girls) and she died sometime after the census of 1763. Firmin arrived in louisiana with his 4 children ca 1766-67 and he married Theotiste Thibodeau (your ancestor) widow of Bonaventure Godin. I hope this helps Don don2717@aol.com
