All I really know about her is her name. She was b. ca. 1843, Caliste, son of Rene Avace Simoneaux, was b. 30 Jan 1841. It is difficult for me to access E. Baton Rouge Diocese records because I live so far away. My Caliste and Olivia lived in Assumption Parish at the time their daughter, Clemence Simoneaux, was born in 1864. Clemence married Jean Landry, s/o Rosemond Oseme Landry, s/o Ursino Valerio Landry, s/o Josef Gregorio Landry(passenger on La Bergere in 1785). Clemence Simoneaux and Jean Landry were my husband's maternal gparents. Thanks for any help you can give. Sincerely, Joanne Presley Don Landry don2717@aol.com

Thank you! > ;o) Lucie > ====================== Most if not all of the information I have on Alexandre Landry is from Steve White. In order to reach the conclusion that Alexandre Landry and Marguerite Blanchard were the parents of Firmin Landry m. Francoise Thibodeau, you have to review the facts we know about Firmin Landry. FIRMIN LANDRY, 1726?28 Firmin LANDRY's burial record at St?Martinville, dated 4 February 1801, which according to Father Donald Hébert (Southwest Louisiana Records, vol 1, p. 344), shows that Firmin LANDRY was the son of "Alexandre LANDRY and . . . . . . . . . " and was the husband of Théoiste THIBODEAU. Firmin Landry décédé 2/4/1801 at age 67 (age is probably an error) (SM CH.: V4, #231) - buried in St Martin de Tours Catholic Church Cemetary. Because he died suddenly, he did not make testament and did not receive the last rites (Sacrament) of the church. signed: Migel Bernado Barriere, curate Inventory of Firmin Landry (SMOA 20?63) was opened March 1801. It should be noted that the name of his, mother was omitted. This omission created some confusion over the years as to who Firmin's parents were and resulted in researchers reaching a number of different conclusions regarding the parents of Firmin LANDRY. According to Stephen A. White, historian and genealogist at the Centre d'études acadiennes, at the University of Montcon in New Brunswick, Firmin LANDRY was the son of Alexandre LANDRY and Marguerite BLANCHARD. He states: "my belief is that Firmin LANDRY was the son of Alexandre LANDRY and Marguerite BLANCHARD. Insofar as I know, Marguerite Blanchard's husband was the only Alexandre LANDRY who was fathering children in Acadia around the time of Firmin LANDRY's birth (about 1726, or perhaps about 1728 as you suggest, although the burial record would make him much younger, born about 1734). " === and: Alexandre Landry (fils de Germain et de Marie Melanson of Pisiquid) n v 1695 in Port Royal m. v 1723 Marguerite Blanchard (filles de Martin Blanchard et de Marguerite Guilbeau of Pisiquid) n v 1707 established in Pisiquid - Alexandre was probably deported to Maryland and died sometime before the census of 7 July 1763. Not much is known about Alexandre LANDRY (Germain LANDRY and Marie MELANSON) and until recently, the Alexandre LANDRY, that was mentioned in the death or burial records of Firmin LANDRY at St. Martin de Tours Church in St. Martinville, La., on 4 February, 1801, as the father of Firmin LANDRY, was believed to be the Alexandre LANDRY who married Ann FLAN, or a mistake was made by the person recording the document at the time of his death. In a letter written to me in response to questions concerning Firmin LANDRY, Professor Stephen A. White, historian and genealogist at the Centre d'études acadiennes, at the University of Montcon in New Brunswick states: "The only hypotheses concerning Firmin LANDRY's parentage remains to be tested are mine and the one suggesting that he was the son of Charles LANDRY and Marie LEBLANC. In my opinion the case turns on whether or not Firmin LANDRY's burial record indeed names his father as Alexandre LANDRY, as Father Donald Hebert maintains. If that is so, then I am inclined to believe that Firmin LANDRY who was the son of Charles LANDRY must have been someone other than your ancester." Firmin LANDRY's burial record at St?Martinville,[ (4 Feb. 1801 at age 67 yrs) (SM Ch.: V. 4, #231)} which according to Father Donald Hebert (Southwest Louisiana Records, vol 1, p. 344) shows that ThTotiste THIBODEAU's husband was the son of "Alexandre LANDRY and . . . . . . . . . " "my belief is that Firmin LANDRY was the son of Alexandre LANDRY and Marguerite BLANCHARD. " So therefore, according to Stephen A. White, historian and genealogist at the Centre d'études acadiennes, at the University of Montcon in New Brunswick, Firmin LANDRY was the son of Alexandre LANDRY and Marguerite BLANCHARD.
