    2. I am not related to Joseph Landry m Geneveve Lalonde. I am historian for the Landry Family Association and am trying ot expand my Landry database so I can help others who are seeking information on the Landry family. My name is Don Landry and I live in Metairie, Louisiana. I do not speak French. My source is the database that the Landry Family Association has been developing over the past few years through the imput of other Landrys who have been corresponding with the Association. The source for most of this information is Father Hebert's books (over 60 volumes), Bona Arsenault, Steven White and the Baton Rouge diocese Catholic Church Records. I also use a database provided to me from Paul Landry who lives in Vermont. Joseph's father was: Nicolas Landry m. (1st) 9 January 17866 at St Michel Yamaska to Marie Louise Cartier m. Due to the rash of virus laden messages and downloads, I have not been opening any message I am not expecting, or is not clearly labled. Especially attachments which I make it a policy not to download anything unless I have requested specific nformation from someone, and it is clearly labled. This should also be a habit practiced by all of the listers. Don Landry don2717@aol.com

I am sure that somewhere in the genealogical make-up of the many branches and individual Landry family lines (which are astronomical in scope due to the geometrical expansion). However, as far as I know, neither of the Rene Landrys, even if you accept the remote possibility that they were related to Marie Sale, this does not make them part Amerindian. As far as Marie Sale being the widow of Jehan Claud, this also does not make Jehan Claud the father of either Rene, regardless of the metamorphasis of his name from Jehan Claud to Jean Claude then to Jean-Claude Landry. See webpage: http://www.landrystuff.com/jeanclaude.htm entitled: "Jean-Claude Landry, myth or progenitor" As you know for many of us researching the Landry family, "Jean-Claude Landry" is the focal point of much debate! He represents our connection between the Old World and the New World. Wishful thinking has many people believing accounts that he is that connection while others insist on verification before accepting that claim. The uncertainty is increased due to the lost of some Acadian church records kept back in the 1600's which were destroyed during a fire in the early 1700's. Don Landry don2717@aol.com

    1. The genealogy of Guillaume LANDRY m. Ozithe dit Rose Leger
    2. At the request of Denise Renée Landry Conti and Sally Schnitziuys, I began working on the family of Henri (Henry) J. Landry bn 1892 who was married about 1911 at St Joseph in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Mary (dit May) Macdougal (daughter of George Macdougal and Bernadette Jackson). Henry was enumerated in 1910 census for Fitchburg, Mass at age 18. I learned from Sally Schnitziuys that Henri (Henry) J. Landry was the son of Guillaume and Ozithe (dit Rose?) Leger, immigrants from Canada that settled at Fitchburg, Massachusetts. This was confirmed by her 2nd cousin Denise Renée Landry Conti, also a descendant of Guillaume and Ozithe. Sally and Denise provided the following information: Guillaume LANDRY and Ozithe (dit Rosie) LEGER had the following children(dates are approx): Joseph LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER) enumerated in 1910 census as age 20, DOB 1890 Anna Rose LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER bn ca 1927 Flora LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER) enumerated in 1910 census as age 16 DOB 1894 Willie LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER) enumerated in 1910 census as age 13, DOB 1897 Alyre LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER) enumerated in 1910 census as age 11, DOB 1899 Alfred LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER), enumerated in 1910 census as age 9, DOB 1901 or 1900, Peter LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER), enumerated in 1910 census as age 7, DOB 1903, Eva LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER), enumerated in 1910 census as age 6 DOB 1904, Marie Anna LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER) enumerated in 1910 census as age 4, DOB 1906, Arthur LANDRY (Guillaume and Ozithe (rosie)LEGER) bn 19 September 1907 d. 27 May 2000 m. Christine m. Pitre - issue twin girls Collette P. Glynn and Constance P. McClusky of Fitchburg Henri (Henry) J. Landry son of Guillaume and Ozithe (dit Rose?) Charles James 2 y, and Philias 1 month He then points out that he believes that the William listed above was our Guillaume Landry, and if so he suggests that Guillaume Landry m. Ozite(dit Rosie) LEGER was the son of Placid and Margaret Richard who were m. approx in 1854. And then suggested that the family line is as follows: ========== Rene LANDRY and Marie Bernard Armand LANDRY & Anne Melanson Jean-Baptiste LANDRY & Blanche Leger Jean LANDRY & Marie Anne O'neil Placide LANDRY s/o Jean LANDRY & Marie Anne O'Neil born approx in 1834 or bn ca 1838 (33 years old at time of 1871 Census) m ca 1854. 3. Hi Folks: The following message is posted for the benefit of "new" members of this Rootsweb Mailing List and will be re-posted on an ongoing basis. --------------------------------------------------------------- You may not be aware that all e-mail messages posted on this Mailing List since its inception, are being archived indefinitely by Rootsweb. Not only does this eliminate the trouble of you "saving" messages on your own computer, but it provides ready-access for any message you've previously seen here (or may have missed when you were away or temporarily unsubscribed from the List). The _interactive_ search may be viewed at: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=LANDRY --------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. As you will see when you visit the above noted URL addresses, all archived messages can be viewed in "chronological" order, or in "thread" (by subject) order. The importance of using a brief but descriptive "subject" when you're posting messages (or replies) on the Mailing List, should be quite obvious. It is also important to also use the _original_ "subject" when replying to a message. This new service is provided for YOUR/OUR benefit... so let's all work together to make it successful. So, when posting a message to the Mailing List, please don't use a vague "subject heading" like...'Need Help'. Instead use a brief but descriptive "Subject" which best describes the content of your message. 2. If you are subscribed in the "Digest Mode", be certain to remove the Digest Reference Number in the "Subject" column, when replying to messages on the Mailing List, and replace same with a brief/descriptive "Subject" based on the content of your reply. 3. Another very important consideration, is that reply messages to initial inquiries should be posted to the Mailing List, rather than sent _privately_ to the originator. This is the only way all can see both the question... and the answer. Many thanks for your anticipated cooperation. YVON L. CYR, cajun@acadian.org Facilitator of this Rootsweb Mailing List.
