    3. I hate to admit it, but there are selfish people out there, and Genealogists generally AREN'T. But we do have our share. Those who "harvest" but do not sow, are doomed to starve. I would REALLY like to see "Sweet Potatoe's " site back up. The disgruntled whining of those who make demands, and the silence of those who appreciate having the help are compounding into a feeling of not being "appreciated". I just want to express my appreciation to all of the genealogists who unselfishly put the hard researched data out on the web, and rightfully should expect reciprocity. I know I ran into the same problem with the Peffley Database, I transcribed the entire Book's database into FTM, Made a gedcom, and posted it all on the internet. (Copyright is in the public domain, I checked) >From that point on I found two things, a search on the Peffley name brought up the database, and sorting mine from the ones I don't know, is now difficult, AND others are gathering the information from the database (22,000 Visits) and not leaving the additional inforation for inclusion. I also debated taking down the site, and just leaving a email link, but decided against it. I did however unlink it from the Peffley Family Association site, and put the GEDCOM in WorldConnect. Since I unlinked it activity has picked up, and one researcher has posted 100 obituaries on that family in my GenConnect. So temporarily removing Data from the internet can stimulate researchers to contact you.
