Hello, Over Memorial Day I visited the Monongahela Cemetery located in Monongahela, PA. I was there at the caretaker's office getting more info on my Barringer and Jenkins surnames. Knowing that many times related families buried in the same cemetery, I asked for a print out for all of the Landis people in the cemetery. To my surprise, I found my g,g,grandparents David Landis and Sarah E. Kennedy along with their son William and his wife Allie H.. There was the grave of a child near them by the name of David Scott Landis who died Dec. 5, 1952, of Atetectasis. The stone reads: David Landis 1932-1906; Sara E. 1842-1918. According to the full print out on David, he died in Pittsburgh of Apoplexy, and was a veteran of the Civil War. Sara died in Monongahela of Jaundice and the funeral director was Bebout and Yohe. I know that David and Sara were living in Worthington, PA in 1866 which is where my g,grandmother Ida May Landis was born. The person who owned the burial site for all of the Landis family was a J. W. RAMAGE. ALLIE H.(UNKNOWN) 1877-1928 BELLE LANDIS B. 1874 JOSEPHINE LANDIS B. 1876 Since is it more difficult to trace the females in a family due to married names; hopefully someone on the list may have an Ellen, Maude, Margaret, Belle, or Josephine Landis that they can help me with. Also, who was J.W.RAMAGE and what connection does this person have to my Landis family? Could the J. stand for Josephine and her married name was Ramage? Thank you for reading this.
