You might look for that backup using Windoze explorer WITHOUT opening FTW -- it should have the same name but a different extension, like "landiss.fbk". Also, are you sure your data was overwritten, or did FTW just create a NEW file with the new gedcom data in it? For example, when FTW opens a file "smith.ged" it creates a new file "smith.ftw". Yours may still exist under the original name you gave it. Again, look for it with FTW closed, using Windoze Explorer or Finder.
