Stanford, You are the first Landis that I have found that also has a Shellenberger connection. My late father used to talk of an uncle whose surname was Shellenberger who went West. I have never known whether the connection was on the Landis side or the Barringer side of my grandmother's family. I have a David Landis b. 1832, PA who married a Sarah b. 1841, PA. Could Sarah have been a Shellenberger? David Landis and wife Sarah had the following children: Ida May Landis b. 1866 (my g,grandmother) m. William Barringer b. 1838. Ellen Landis b. 1867 Maude Landis b. 1870 Maggie Landis b. 1872 Willie Landis b. 1872 Belle Landis b. 1874 Josephine Landis b. 1876 William Barringer's parents were George Barringer(Bearinger) and Mary. George Barringer's family were from Bedford Co. PA and also MD. David Landis may have served in the Civil War; but, I have not found a good list to check this out. Do you or anyone on the Landis list recognize this family.? Following my signature are other family surnames. Thanks for any help I can get on this family. I am at the wall re David Landis.
