Hi to all Landes listers, I have posted this awhile ago and figured I would work on this line again. I am researching Jacob Landes d.1777 in Franconia Township, PA. He married a Judith ? Their children were 1- Jacob Landes b. 1748/49 d. 1834 2- John Landes 3- Charles Landes d. 1782 4- Magdalena b. 1757 d. 1833, married Abraham Nice I have information on this line after Jacob and Judith but none before them. I have just received the Death Certificate for my g,grandmother Ida May Landis/Landes, Barringer with the full names of her parents given. I have been at the brick wall re David Landis b. 1832 who married a woman named Sarah b. 1841. Well Sarah now has a last name and it is Kennedy. So now can anyone out there now connect with me? Do any of you have a Landis/Kennedy connection somewhere in your family tree? It is interesting to note that while g,grandmother Ida May's Death Certificate spells her maiden name Landis, my grandmother, Sarah Ellen Barringer, Jenkins, McCormick's Death Certificate spells the name Landes when referring to her mother Ida May. Hi Laura: Have you checked the Mennonite Family History magazine...there were articles done on almost all the LANDES' at one time or another and the bigger libraries probably have back issues....they are online under Masthoff http://www.masthof.org/mfh.html They have indexes to the different back issues which you might find helpful. You probably know all this but just trying to help! Chester County, PA became Lancaster County, PA and there is a microfilm at the Family History Center called "The Landis Family of Lancaster County, PA". It is just FILLED with all sorts of names, dates, etc. Very interesting. Check it out...sorts out all the different John LANDES' etc....I had them copy the whole thing for me but no index!!! Alas! I am searching for information on a Henry J. LANDIS - the only information I have for him is that he was born c. 1868. He was married to Minnie Jerusha Schadt b. 20 april 1868, d. 1956 d/o of John Jonathan Schadt and Anna Maria Berger. Henry and Minie lived in the Allentown, PA area and had 2 daughters, Anna Julia b. 1891 and Alice Marion b. 1894. Henry died of tuberculous when Anna and Alice were very young. Stacie, Did you grandmother or any of her children collect on his social security? that is a possible way of finding where your grandmother is buried and maybe your grandfather is there. if you have a death date you can send for a death certificate. Check counties where other members of family resided and see if he is buried there. Or throw it out to the list and maybe one of us has his name on our databases!
