Many thanks, Ian and Rodney for that very interesting info about Bleachers. It's not a job I would have liked because I bet it involved a lot of exposure to (gaseous) chlorine, which can't have been good for the lungs! Also an interesting speculation about the origin of the American "bleachers" meaning "cheap seats". Mind you, having sat in them at a "ball-game" during a red-hot summer's day (over 40'C), I can understand that your shirt might have been a lighter tone at the end of the game!
