    3. Hell's Bells, small world. I'm from Royton too, born on Turf Lane in 1947. Moved to Shaw when I was 4; mentioned Oldham 'cause nobody has ever heard of Shaw or Royton as a rule! Can't remember Oldham Ice Cream, but I certainly remember Granelli's, damn good stuff it was too, blow Mister Whippy! I preferred the biscuit cones too. Especially 99s! Granelli's van used to come round our estate - Rushcroft - in the Fifties, Mum used to buy us all a 3d cornet, and one for the dog as well or he sulked! O'Donnell's van too. "Do you want raspberry on that?" Yes, I did, but the real raspberry vinegar, I went off it when it turned into dribbly stuff that just tasted of pink! Can remember the market stalls too, I still go to Shaw Market sometimes, and I've lost count of the times I've followed Mum or Nan Exley around Royton Market. Where d'you live now? I'm in Westhoughton, near Bolton, for my sins! Ian Winterbottom
