    3. Can anyone provide info on the following publication 'Chipping register : or an extract from the 3 ancient registers of ABC being a catalogue of the births, marriages and burials of memorable persons and ancestors to the inhabitants of this parish from 1559 to 1694.' Other than a very basic outline from Worldcat and Google I can't seem to find a copy. I have tried all the major on-line book depositories with no luck. I have Smith's History of Chipping and the LPRS transcript, this is something different. Any help would be much appreciated.

    3. Being an "extract" made me think that this was possibly a manuscript document of the type found in the LDS catalogue where only a single copy exists and is held by the church.   I searched the catalogue but couldn't find anything that matched the description. I looked at Wordcat and find that the Author was the Community of the Ressurection (Mirfield).   The Community appears to be a monastic order and has an extensive library - perhaps and inquiry to them might be appropriate. https://www.mirfield.org.uk/mirfield-centre/library-learning-resources/ On 05/06/2018 09:33, Phil Marsden via LANCSGEN wrote: > Can anyone provide info on the following publication 'Chipping register : or > an extract from the 3 ancient registers of ABC being a catalogue of the > births, marriages and burials of memorable persons and ancestors to the > inhabitants of this parish from 1559 to 1694.' 3. Archive.org does have the 1559 - 1694 registers as transcribed by Alice Brierley for the LPRS in 1903.  I assume this is what Phil referred to as the LPRS transcript. What an "extract .... of memorable persons and ancestors" could add to this is a little unclear.  When I looked at the other 49 Worldcat documents where the "Community of the Resurrection (Mirfield)" was the sole author this doesn't look to be typical of their works.   I wonder why a Yorkshire Monastic Order would be preparing such an extract.   As we don't have a date for the document it is difficult to say if it pre-dates the LPRS transcript or was prepared by reference to it. I suspect Worldcat is attributing the document to the Community as there is no other author/publisher and the Community have simply catalogued it at some point.    I spent ages a few weeks back in trying to locate a ships log that was reported in Worldcat.   At first it didn't have a reference to a library that held it but eventually I traced the original to the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, Massachusetts where it is catalogued on their system as being held in the Vault.    The point here is that Worldcat seemed to have only a partial description of the document.
