Hello Stephen, I know there was an Asylum in Whittingham, not far from Goosnargh for some years. I do not know any details, as I do not live in Lancashire, though many of my ancestors come from the area. Looking in Google; there was a hospital in Goosnargh, as well as in Whittingham, at the date you are interested in. Might be what you are looking for!
