I am currently researching all of the men with my surname - Swarbrick - who erved in the First World War. I already have information on over 200, but here are some 40+ for whom I only have name, rank and number. If anyone ut there has a Swarbrick ancestor who served and can help I'd be glad to ear from you. I may even br able to tell you a thing or two. n 16 November 2013 19:23, David Railton <railton.david@btinternet.com>wrote: > Following Sandra's call for an early Christmas roll call of ones we have searched all year for, here is a difficult one: Henry Charles LEWIS, once described by his daughter as a 'broken down Memphis cotton broker'. He spent much time in Liverpool in the 1870s and 1880s without leaving any trace other than 3 children born to my great great grand aunt Mary Fletcher CLARKE who called herself Mary Fletcher LEWIS despite her not having married the man. Mary had been born in Runcorn in 1847 to Peter CLARKE, a Liverpool tide waiter (customs officer) and his wife Sarah CLARKE nee ECCLES.
