SEVERE STORM IN THE ATLANTIC. Several fresh catastrophes are reported from the gale. The Cunard steamer 'Atlas', which has arrived from Boston, was in a hurricane from west-north-west from Sunday morning to Monday night. The vessel had to run before the sea for several hours, after which she was 16 hours hove to. The carried away her boats, and one tremendous wave washed overboard the second and third officers, a seaman, and a passenger. The seaman and third officer were drowned, but the others were cast back on deck by the reflex and saved. The ' s.s. Viking' from Liverpool with general cargo, put into Queenstown with loss of boats and bulwarks. The deck was swept and the cargo shifted, and she has had to go to Passage Dock for repairs.
