Marriage cert has Mary Jane Ross in full, she didn't sign it, just her mark and husband Joseph is down as Joseph D, Ellis. His signature also reads Joseph D, Ellis. There is a dot/squiggle after D, but not high up to appear as an apostrophe, more middle way down the capital D followed by Ellis written with a capital E. The father's name is clearly Samuel Ellis not D'Ellis. The birth cert for Joseph Charles Braithwaite Ellis has father named just Joseph Ellis no initials, yet when Joseph C B married in 1883, on his marriage cert,he is noted only as Joseph and his father also only Joseph. No initials or middle names used. What are you thinking ? Two different families and I've been barking up the wrong tree ? I've had a good long hard think and probably I'm piecing the wrong bits together. The more I look at dates , ages and placenames, the more I think I'm wrong. I keep going back to 1871 census which stated Chirk. I cann't see the image online for that marriage I told you about between Mary LLoyd and Joseph Ellis in 1862. Do you know how to look up the parish records ? If not, I'll purchase the cert. Karen Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
