Spons(Thomas Glover and Cath Byrne by proxy) for Peter Lonsdale and Mgt Taylor by me Jno(?) Rigby The priest who baptised Edward would have been John RIGBY, born in Lancashire in 1733, educated in Paris, ordained in 1782 and died in 1818, The abbreviation Jno is used for John and is based on the Latin Joannes etc. It is not used as an abbreviation for Jonathon as Jonathon is much rarer than John.
