In 1911 there appears to have been a gun works in the Gorton area of Manchester because the census has several gun works employees living in Gorton. Does anyone know about this works please? What period was this? Just looked in a 1895 directory, several gunmakers that appear to be around the centre of Manchester. It's possibly many could be small scale, making guns by hand rather than mass production. Also Sir Joseph Whitworth, Ashton Old Road, Openshaw. Give a date and will have a look in some others.
