We still call it Mothering Sunday in my family and now we get daffodils from Church rather than Violets. I have generations back to the 1600's - in various parts of Lancashire - and here in Leigh, where I live, I count myself lucky to be able to put flowers on the graves of my Mother born 1904, Grandma 1881, Great Grandma 1853, Great Great Grandma 1823 & Great Great Great Grandma 1802 in our local cemetery -especially on Mothering Sunday.
