I'm the originator of the August 2002 message. I have information on the Steele and Bagot families. Most of my information is on the family and descendants of Matthew Steele born 1799 Ireland, died 1860 Liverpool. This Matthew is my husband's great grandfather. I haven't done any research for more than ten years now, having hit the proverbial brick wall. Let me know which line of the Steeles you are interested in and I'll see if I have anything relevant.
