Hi all advice please on looking up people on the electoral roll (in Genes reunited.) when I ask for a name eg Norman Holmes, it finds a very large number and won't use middle names or initials. However it gives you the full names of the people at the same address eg Mark B Holmes and Murgatroyd John Holmes Is there a secret to the electoral roll and is that the only place to look? regards Marg OLeary Port Stephens NSW
I'm really not sure why you are using GR to look up the electoral roll. It is far from being the best source and tends to throw up a great deal of GIGO (garbage in garbage out) as so much of it is user-submitted. Things like the censuses and electoral rolls are add-ins that they have included over the years but it is certainly not the place to start. No doubt others with more time and knowledge than me will tell you where you need to go but I suspect you will have to pay for the information with either a subscription or credits from sites such as Find My Past and Ancestry.
