    3. Hi Marg My father was listed as an engineer on his death certificate and my mother spoke of him as an engineer. As far as I knew, he never went to formal schooling for it as one must do today, but he did work on some aspect of building airplanes at Samlesbury Aerodrome, near Blackburn/Preston during WW11. What would have been the engineering jobs in Haslingden in 1920s to 40s? For an engineer in the 1940s, where should I be looking?     3. in the 1950's if you worked as a machinist in a metal machine shop they would call you an engineer.
