Thanks for your digging, there's a lot of detail there. Perhaps you can help me with some guidance, as you are local to my Liverpool roots. I'm trying to find a relationship between "Matthew Steele & Son", soap makers in the late 1700's in Liverpool, to Matthew Steele (1799). I think the father and son are Matthew and Matthew, my 4th and 3rd G Grandfathers, but haven't found a solid connection and am unsure of where to look. I found them in various directories etc, but no solid link. An obituary for either would help, but those have eluded me so far. The elder Matthew Steele died 1830, and the younger 1860, both in Liverpool, or close by. The son, if it is the same family, owned several sugar plantations in British Guiana, and my 2nd G Grandfather was born there. British Guiana records are sparse at best. Until recently, for me, Liverpool meant the Fab Four, but now I've found a whole pile of family from there, so I think a visit is in order to your city. Thanks again for your generous efforts James Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
