    1. [LAN] Family tree maker advise please
    2. Susan Chapman via
    3. Hi listers I use an old version of family tree maker, I have not subscribed to Ancestry for a couple of years, but I have years if research, documents and photographs on there. I also use it for charts, reports etc to share Ancestry say they are no longer supporting this soft ware, should I be concerned? I have backed all up onto a separate hard drive. Can anybody advise me or recommend an alternative, Thanks Sue

    3. Until you get a new computer that runs a higher Windows program, you should be ok but I'd back up often in case anything goes wrong with the program and you can't get your data for lack of support.  I'd also back up to a Gedcom file so that it can transfer into another program if necessary.    RootsMagic has a great description on how to change from FTM to their program at http://blog.rootsmagic.com/?p=2546 and Heredis, the French program, has a very good offer right now for $15 US.  Not sure of UK price.
