Hi, I know it's not Rootsweb policy to moderate the mailing lists, but to be honest, with the scale of spam emails going the way it is, I and others really do think it would be a step in the right direction as it would keep the mailing lists free of such mailings, it would save the admins the job of getting all the spam emails removed from the archives etc etc etc. I've been exceptionally fortunate on the lists I admin that we've had basically no problems in this regard, probably because they are low number lists. On county lists the number of subscribers are going to be vastly more and so those lists are going to be far more prone to it. Also, it's not just the matter of making sure our AV software is up to date. Webmail accounts are being targeted by hackers, so no AV software is going to prevent that. Once a hacker has successfully logged into your account via webmail, if you use that service to store your contacts, then your contacts are going to be targeted, no doubt about it. If Rootsweb mailing lists are included in your contacts, then they're going to be targeted too. Kind regards, Jon
