I am trying to find out what happened to my ggg grandfather's brother, Nathaniel CLARKE after my last sighting of him in a 1875 record. Nathaniel was the son of Peter Clarke, a Liverpool customs officer, and his wife Sarah nee Eccles. He was born at Douglas, Isle of Man in 1852 while his father was posted there. I have his birth and baptism record and I see him in the 1861 census living at Thomaston Street, Kirkdale. I also have a record of his enlistment in the Merchant Navy in 1866 and his 2nd Mates certificate of 1875 when he is described as living at 18 Jolliffe Street Liverpool. After that I can find no trace of him. Does anyone know any more about him? David Railton
