Hi to all those interested people who have sent me so much new information . It does not matter how often one looks at a certificate there always seems to be something new . It is all the spellings that are driving me crazy . Dialects I suppose . My husband was born Heywood but he never had a strong accent but his parents who arrived here 1960's did . So I learnt a lot of new words !! I have established that Betty GUYE's mother was a Martha BARNES , the surname of the Vicar ?? who married the couple . The Guye's do go back several generations here . But sadly no other PEERS/PIERS/PEARS or PIERCE in or around this area . So have to accept he has arrived from elsewhere . He was a Shoemaker .
