I totally agree Mike. We need to sign up for every available site to help knock down those brick walls. If it hadn't been for a Derbyshire site, I would never have found a branch of my family in the USA. I am under the impression the membership is declining based on the number of letter queries I see posted. Some members says its because programs such as Ancestry.com or others give the members what they need. But my recent query could not be answered until I posted a query to our list. Think about it, you ask a question and a lot of our wonderful members come out with all sorts of new ways to approach a subject. None of the other programs do this or responds almost with lightening speed. In addition, I enjoy looking at the numerous queries posted or if I am lucky some might ask me for a street location. Along with my cup of coffee its one of my favourite pastimes. Please do suggest when talking about family history research to friends who might be new to this hobby, that they subscribe (for free) to our local Rootsweb list.
