The boys both died young one aged 3 when he died and the other was aged 6. No idea what either died from at this stage. I would like to find William's birth date or any other info on him or his parents. He was married in 1798 at St Bertoline, Barthomley, Cheshire, England . I know that he is buried at Astbury in Congleton - he died on He died on 21 August, 1825. He was buried on 24th August from what I can see aged 51. Any help with him or his parents would be gratefully received. Merry Christmas to everyone Ginny in Brisbane

    3. You're very welcome, Shirley :o) I only copy the details of the new listings to the Lancashire lists, the real thanks goes to the transcribers and Admins of the Online Parish Clerk website as they put in much more work and effort than I do. Without their unselfish work, my Dad's side of the family tree would be a lot more bare! Merry Christmas! 3. Hello all! Would love to: (1) find the ancestors of my oldest direct ancestor Roger Phitheon b. 1539 Brereton-cum-Smethwick, Cheshire. Died about 1604. Wife Elizabeth b. about 1543. (2) find the time to collate all the information I have collected over the past year regarding the history of John Phethean and Co, cotton spinners of Bolton and later in Farnworth. Hopefully to find some early documents which would shed some light on when the original company was founded (around 1840 at a guess). And that’s only the beginning! But I can’t wish for everything, can I? Happy Christmas to everyone. 3. Not Lancashire related, but UK related. This Great Great Grandmother is running me ragged. Michael1 Cull (375) was born at Ireland. He might have died in California. He married Mary Lucretia McDonald (1637). (Maybe as this has not been confirmed). A. Jim2 Cull (376) Was a prominent New York attorney. Was given Guardianship of his little sister Mary Lucretia and niece Ellen Cull. B. David2 Cull (377) was born at New York, USA. He might have died in California. He was a widower with small child. Decided to go west with his father. Left his daughter Ellen with his Brother a Prominent New York attorney. When she was 14, Ellen ran away with her Aunt Mary Lucretia Cull to California. 1. Ellen3 Cull (378) C. Mary Lucretia2 Cull (165) She was born on either: 12 May 1844 in the state of New York, USA. OR she was born on 12 May 1847 at New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York, USA. On one census it stated that she was born in England. She married Benjamin Franklin Lockhart (164), son of Captain John Alexander Lockhart (379) and Jane P. (---?---) (3779), on 29 Mar 1869 at Sacramento, Sacramento County, California, USA. She appeared on the census of 1 Jun 1900 at Long Valley, Mendocino County, California, USA. She died on 13 Jan 1920 at Dauphiny Creek, Laribee, Humboldt County, California, USA, at age 75. Grandmother Lucille Mildred Voigts nee Lovejoy told this story about Mary Cull and her Niece Ellen: When Mary was about fifteen or sixteen years old and Ellen was thirteen or fourteen, their fathers decided to go to California and try to seek their fortunes. Michaels wife Mary had died, as had David, his sons, wife. They left their daughters in the care of the elder brother James and his wife. James is said to have been an attorney in New York. After a while the girls decided to run away, due in part to the fact that James wife treated them like servants instead of nieces. The girls saved all their money and waited for a day when there was going to be a big party at the house. After the guests arrived, the girls let two pet monkeys loose in the parlor. During the uproar they slipped out of the house, all they had is their good clothes on under their work clothes and what they could carry. They took a train to New Orleans, from there a boat to Panama, crossed the isthmus on mule back, and another ship to San Francisco. After hitting California the girls apparently looked for their fathers. Somewhere along the line they were separated, with Mary settling in San Jose, where she met an old friend from New Rochelle, New York, Benjamin Franklin Lockhart. Susan Boise, Ada County, Idaho

    1. [LAN] Obituary - McDade(Dickinson), Clare
    2. Bill Cook
    3. The Chronicle Herald, Halifax, Nova Scotia, December 13, 2017 Clare McDade(January 8, 1922 - December 11, 2017) Clare McDade, 95, of Halifax, passed away on December 11, 2017, at Whitehills Long Term Care Facility, with her loving daughters by her side. Clare was born in Leigh, Lancashire, England, on January 8, 1922, the daughter of Sam and Isobel Dickinson. She trained at Booth Hall Children's Hospital near Manchester, England, and later nursed evacuees in Blackpool. She met Doug who was serving in England in the RCAF during WWII and they were later married on July 31st, 1944 in London. Subsequently, Clare arrived in Canada in 1946 through Pier 21 as a War Bride. The family lived in Parrsboro for many years, moved to Sydney, and in 1972, settled in Halifax. Clare was secretary in the IWK Volunteer Service Department for 15 years and a volunteer for 34 years. She was also a member of the IWK Auxiliary, Kermesse volunteer and a volunteer for the weekly Family Teas for parents and visitors. She also enjoyed her time as a member and secretary of the Halifax-Dartmouth and Area War Brides Association. Clare always looked forward to family times spent together for holidays and other celebrations. She was an excellent cook and no recipe was too daunting for her to try. She was well known among her family and friends for her English trifle, lemon cheese, light fruitcake, squares and gravy! Mom was also a skilled knitter. The beautiful hand knit sweaters made lovingly for her grandsons are still treasured today. Her knitted dish clothes have also been distributed far and wide. Clare is survived by daughters, Susan Wetmore (Gord), Debbie Stover (Jeff Schelew); beloved grandsons, Leigh Wetmore (Jan), Luke Stover (Katherine Wilson); great grandchildren, Jack and Emily Wetmore, all of Halifax; sister, Mary Dickinson of England; brothers-in-law, Eric, Gerald (Eudora) of Truro, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Doug in 2005, and sisters, Josephine and Pauline. Mom has lived with Alzheimers for the last few years, but we have been blessed to have experienced this "long good-bye" and looked forward to our daily visits. We would always be greeted with a smile and a knowing look. Clare will be sadly missed by her daughters and grandsons ("My Boys") who loved her deeply. She will be remembered for her strength of character, generosity of spirit, sense of humour, sharp wit, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and her friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Whitehills who have kept mom comfortable and content over the last seven years. Cremation has taken place. The family will gather in Parrsboro on a sunny summer day in 2018 to celebrate Mom's life and lay her to rest beside her beloved Doug. In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, may be made to the IWK Auxiliary, Room 2088A, University Avenue, PO Box 9700, Halifax, NS B3K 6R8 or charity of choice. Online condolences may be made at www.jasnowfuneralhome.com "Pray for me, and I shall for you and all your friends that we may merrily meet in heaven." St. Thomas More's last letter to his daughter, Meg.
