    3. My FamilyFinder matches with FTDNA are at best 73cM, longest block 27cM, so fairly tenuous. There are no surname matches in the ones that have trees, as except in a few instances their research never seem to cross the Atlantic back to England. I have also tested with Living DNA, but they have not yet set up a matching facility. At least I have a few good Y-DNA matches though! 2. Hi, I have a private tree on Ancestry and I do get notifications of possible 'cousins'from Ancestry. I have had quite a few & one just last weekend giving me the name of a chap that had the same 5 x gt.grandparents as I have. I contacted him after verifying his tree was what I also had. We managed to wish each other a Merry Christmas & being happy that another cousin has been found albeit quite distant. Merry Christmas to you all. Anita. 1. [LAN] Post in plain text and snip if replying
    2. Lynne
    3. Hello everyone Many of you have enthusiastically responded to the Father Christmas theme and your posts are making interesting reading. I hope you're enjoying all of the emails; I know I am. Unfortunately, many messages are not making it to the list because the posts are too big. What causes this? Posting in HTML or Mime may make your post too big and then it gets trapped in the list's pending folder until I can take a look at it. Some posts in HTML simply disappear into cyberspace. If you didn't get a copy of your post, don't see it in the archives, and didn't get a notification about the post, your post may have been in HTML. Post in plain text to avoid this. Replying without judiciously snipping can also cause a post to be too big. Just leave enough of the previous message so we know to what you're replying. If the previous message isn't too long, you can leave it, but please delete the stuff at the bottom. Thanks so much! Now get back to Christmas wishes. Lynne list admin.

I believe I have his baptism at Wharton Presbyterian in Little Hulton - 22 Jul 1812. I also believe that he had a brother born 27 Oct 1817. I think he married Mary ________ and they had their first child, daughter Elizabeth born in 1837 in Dukinfield, Cheshire. I believe that his father was William and William married a Betty, but if I remember rightly there were 2 William and Bettys married about the same time and in a close location What I'd like is some confirmations on my info with some solid info/sources so I can proceed when I upgrade my subscription after the first of the year. Merry Christmas to all I think the US got a good start on all of us, perhaps because of the LDS, so seem to have had a head start with the wider interest in family history, perhaps like us Aussies, the quest to find the background was further than just a little way down the road, and therefore a deeper more challenging kind of quest.. Sadly, I haven't got the time to do a big search today, but I've had a quick look round and the Scottish births are far too early (1820s) for a direct link to Charlotte. The spelling of the surname is obviously going to be a factor in getting accurate results for this! It should be borne in mind that Edward and Edmo(u)nd are very easily confused in transcriptions, also. The births in Ireland are more in keeping with your time line, but again, no Charlottes. I would suggest joining the Lancashire Digital library as there's quite a few databases of newspaper collections which are worth looking at. 3. Hello Listers, Although not Lancashire specific, I would like to know what became of my great Aunt Muriel Isabel Gainsborough. She was born on 12 August, 1895 at Lewisham, south east London. At the time of the 1939 Register, she was a Domestic at Acton Hospital in west London and, I'm lead to believe, in 1946 held a similar position at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital in central London. I cannot find a marriage or death entry for her, nor can I find an emigration record. Peter
