I have checked all census records and have narrowed it down to possible 10. English death certificates do not name parents which make this hard. On the marriage certificate they only name the groom's Father. I haven't even been able to work out any of John's siblings. The 14 children are John's children. I have tried looking at historical newspapers online but that comes at a expensive cost. A question "what is the Lancashire OPC"? I am looking for the mother of my 2nd great grandfather. What I have is: his name is John Smith born 1878 Manchester. On his marriage certificate his father is listed as John Thomas Smith. John married Maggie Frith on 24th December 1898 at St Philip Manchester. This couple went on to have 14 children. On john and Maggie's marriage certificate it lists John Thomas smith occupation which is very hard to read. I live in Australia and research what I can online. I have exhausted all avenues so maybe someone out there may know the answer to this or have other ideas where I can look. Thank you. He was the first born son of my great,great-grandmother , Anna Katharina Waechter Strack but born (according to records) a few years before she married my grandfather, Johann Peter Strack in Morschbach, Rhine, Germany. He moved and settled in England where he married and raised a family in Blackburn while my great,great-grandparents emigrated to America in 1843. Author: adrian_bruce Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.lan.general/52740.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: "The dates 1508 to 1969 for the cemetery came from doing a Google search". Hmm. As you may be aware, that's not particularly likely in England. Perhaps not impossible, but virtually all graveyards were linked with churches in the 1500s. Given that my dates come from Salford council, the operators of Weaste, I suspect I believe them first. However, it is by no means impossible that Weaste could be built on top of something earlier. (Just off your map, of course, according to Mr Murphy's Rule!) Oh - wait - just found the reference. Is this it from DeceasedOnline? Weaste Cemetery, City of Salford Greater Manchester North West 1508 to 1969 Which is dubious because the reference is to the RG37 records that DeceasedOnline have - and the TNA catalogue shows Weaste in RG37 as Salford: Weaste cemetery (1844-1969) General Register Office: Removal of Graves and Tombstones. Salford: Weaste cemetery (1844-1969). Date range: 1970 - 1979 Reference:RG 37/175 I suspect 1970-79 refers to the removals. So where 1508 comes from I have no idea... I would suspect an error somewhere. But who knows? Still, stuff like this makes it all interesting!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My Salford maps dated around 1844 did not show any graveyards. Weaste was in the south west of my newer maps 1894 but to far to the south west and not covered in the 1844 map. The maps normally show a church graveyard, but the only yard I could see in Salford was classed as a church yard. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
