Is there somewhere they are stored to be able to consult them? My family history search has led me to looking for a particular family who were in the electoral roll for a district but not listed in the phone book on line. I feel that if I had access to an older paper phone book, I could probably find the person - an address to write to..... regards Marg OLeary Port Stephens NSW :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: Buy or sell family research items on the GEN-MAT-UKI mailing list. Author: lawust1 Surnames: White,Nicolson,Corbett, manton,Gill Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.lan.general/52748/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for a Frances (Fanny) White who emigrated to Australia in the 1860's and married David Nicolson from Unst,in the Shetland Isles. On Frances's marriage certificate, her parents are a Thomas White (shoemaker) and and Fanny Corbett from Salford,Manchester. On Frances' death certificate her parents mentioned are John White(shoemaker) from Cashel and Mary Frances Manton. The conflict of names tends me to believe that the mother may have remarried and moved across to Manchester at some stage. I also believe Frances may have had some sisters,Ellen and another sister who married a man by the name of Gill who lived in Castlemaine,Victoria,Australia. Can anyone please help? Usually the father's name is blank but the fact that he is mentioned may mean he played a part in her life. Richard's occupation looks the same as William's but the writing is terrible. If I've found the correct William in 1911 in Hyde, Cheshire, he is a weaver ....he is a widower living with his mother Ann (his father was Samuel), Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: CATIEWOO Surnames: Cross/Carr Classification: marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.lan.general/52744/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Could someone please help/advise about a fathers name on a marriage certificate. The marriage is between William McDougall and Mary Ellen Cross on 2nd December 1905, the image is attached! It states that Marys father was Richard CARR, so am a little confused! I can't read what his occupation was either! I can't find any trace of Mary on any census before her marriage, she was born about 1879! I have also looked for RIchard under both Cross and Carr, and there are a couple of possibilities but I am wondering how accurate the marriage certificate is - I though it was very accurate! Does that make any sense? Thank you Cate Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
