First of all, many thanks to all of you who have replied to me. I feel quite overwhelmed with the responses and will try to reply individually. I had the 1911 census page from FMP and now have the name of the hospital and the reference for the 1911 census entry which I hadn't found. And I still can't seem to find the census page on Ancestry for this hospital so if anyone knows how to do this I would be most grateful. I had also found her in 1891 and 1901. And the passage from Liverpool to Newfoundland in 1920 which initially made me think she had emigrated, especially as I'd not found her in 1911 on Ancestry. I had the GRO index birth and then for some reason decided to search for her on FMP and found her and a couple of siblings in the Army births index on FMP - that was new to me and I was surprised to find her in the two indexes as I had always supposed people would only be in the one, but I've never had cause to wonder about it before. And I also had baptisms from Lancs OPC. After that I decided to try the 1911 census on FMP and came up trumps, which led to my query and the flurry of replies. With grateful thanks. Carol
Hi Carol 2 Images of the 1911 Census sent off list. I have found Elizabeth Sarah CASEMENT, Nurse, 24, Single, Hospital Nurse, born Bury, on FMP but I have only purchased the one page [I have credits with them] and it doesn't give me the census reference number or any details of the establishment [or how many pages] other than the original search saying Mirfield, Dewsbury. I also have a subscription to Ancestry [which would enable me to search on more pages] only I cannot find her on their index. I tried searching for 3 other people from that page so am wondering if it's missing on Ancestry. If anyone can direct me to the reference and listing on Ancestry I would be most grateful. BUT I think he was born in Yorkshire. He had a son called Paulinus - is this likely to be the John Barnes you mention in your message posted last month? Paulinus moved from Halifax to Haslingden by 1861. John was married to Mary. Any relation of yours? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. To add to my dilemma, I have just found in 1891 a family called Palmer living at No. 14 Michael St., Peel..... So I am still none the wiser and can't find my GARRETT family anywhere......has to be 1891. Help Please..... Robyn
Hi Everyone, Since my last posting I've travelled through New Zealand, Scotland and the Isle of Man and Liverpool Lancashire..... I am now frustrated as although I've had wonderful success, I am missing the family in 1891 UK Census...... I have them in 1901 living in 14 Michael Street, Peel, Isle of Man. I know they are not here in Lancashire right now, but their daughter Elizabeth Florence GARRETT was living here in Liverpool (1919) when she gave birth to twins and later when she married in 1925 to William H Williams.....Certificates state born in Isle of Man, have found her family there.....or parts thereof. I have tried to look up the address 14 Michael Street Peel in 1891, without success. This is the family as I have found them in 1901: 1901 Census Original: 14 Michael St., Peel, Parish of German, Isle of Man. John J Garrett Head, M. 49 yrs., submarine diver and lead miner born Braddan Isle of Man Elizabeth M, 45 yrs., born German Isle of Man Charles Watterson son, single 20 years, Hair Dresser own account at house....born Peel Florence Garrett dau. Single 17 yrs., dressmaker own account at home born Peel William J son single 5 years born Peel Robert H. son single 1 yr. born Peel. I do apologise for being slightly off List, but this is "my" List and you're all so helpful......perhaps you can help me find them in 1891...... There were also children Annie Jane Garrett 1889 and John James Garrett 1886 both found alive in 1911, but away from home in 1901. J J Garrett was a fisherman in 1901. Annie Jane was staying with her Aunty in Birkenhead. But where were they all in 1891??? Any help very much appreciated, Cheers, Robyn
