Author: RxCairns Surnames: CAMPBELL Classification: census Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.lan.general/52816.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Dan. I haven't been able to find Patrick and Mary in the 1901 census either. However, there was a Campbell family living at 1 Tenterden Street in Liverpool in 1901. It is a long shot that they might have been related in some way to your Campbells, but might be worth further investigation. James Campbell, the head of the household, was born Ireland ca 1839 and was working as a bricklayers labourer in 1901. His wife Mary was born in Ireland about 1846. With them was a son Richard Campbell born Liverpool in 1879, who was working as a carter. Their household also included a niece and a boarder. James and Mary were still there at 1 Tenterden Street in the 1911 census. By then, James was an old age pensioner. The record indicated he was born in County Wexford in Ireland. Kind regards, Rosemary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. And no, I didn't have this information but I took a quick look on Google and found that Amy Turnbull's house in Manchester is STILL here (53 George Leigh Street) so that was thrilling enough plus Georges old house has long gone but the street survives and has car parks on the spots that once occupied houses. I think I'm close to discovering a photo of the family, hopefully. I will travel to Manchester's Central Library at some point and this houses a wealth of information about former residents around the Manchester area. Thanks again for your time and effort! The Sharples were timber merchants. There was both a John and a William, brothers and sons of Henry, grandsons of George. I'm trying to track down my ancestors in the 1901 census but can't seem to find them anywhere. Patrick Campbell died at 3 Tenterden Street in 1905 and his wife Mary died at 3 Tenterden Street in 1906. On the 1891 census they were both living at Rachel Street. Patrick was a dock labourer. I have attached an image of their family tree details. I really hope someone can help me track them down. I've tried all sorts of variants of their names and used various websites and still nothing. Hopefully a fresh pair of eyes might help. Thanks, Dan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [LAN] CLARKSON
    2. Darrel Walker
    3. Do you have any of these CLARKSONs in your database I am researching the ancestry of Margaret CLARKSON (1821 - 1897) who married Richard BERRY (1821 - 1890), son of John and Mary BERRY of Roeburndale. They were married in 1848 in Melling. Margaret CLARKSON was the daughter of Robert and Mary CLARKSON of Wray. I haven't found Mary's surname yet. Margaret was baptized at Hornby St. Margaret 8 April 1821, and Robert was shown to be a husbandman on the baptism record. In the 1841 census for Wray Robert's occupation was shown to be Army P (whatever that is). In the 1851 census for Wray Robert's occupation was shown to be pensioner of the Artillery Royal. Robert CLARKSON was the son of Laurence and Margaret CLARKSON. He was baptized in Tatham 5 September 1779 and died 21 June 1855 in Wray. I haven't found Mary's surname yet, but she was born in about 1788 and died 15 December 1875 in Wray. Laurence was baptized in 1732 according to the church records for Tatham and died in November 1827 in Caton, Lancashire. He married Margaret (surname unknown) who died 4 February 1783 in Tatham. Can you help me with any of these names? Thanks. Darrel Walker dwalker2418@comcast.net

    1. [LAN] BERRY, CLARKSON, DILWORTH, PHILIPSON, ROBERTSON
    2. Darrel Walker
    3. Do you have any of these surnames in your database? At one time or another they all were in the Roeburndale and Wray area of Lancashire near Melling. I am researching the ancestry of Richard BERRY (1821 - 1890) and Margaret CLARKSON (1821 - 1897) who were married in 1848 in Melling. This posting focuses on the BERRY line. A second posting will focus on the CLARKSON line. Richard BERRY was the son of John and Mary BERRY of Roeburndale John BERRY, son of Thomas and Grace BERRY of Roeburndale, was baptized in 1775 at Hornby Chapel. In 1802 John married Mary DILWORTH (at least I think it was DILWORTH), daughter of Thomas and Jane DILWORTH, who was baptized in 1778 in Slaidburn, Yorkshire. Some researchers say John married Mary HOWSON. Thomas BERRY, son of Paul and Anne BERRY of Hailot, was baptized in 1733 at St. Wilfred in Melling. In 1761 Thomas married Grace SHARPLES at Saint Mary's Lancaster (this location troubles me). Paul BERRY who died in 1784 in Roeburndale was the son of Thomas BERRY and Elizabeth ROBERTSON. In 1730 Paul married Anne PHILIPSON in Roeburndale. Thomas BERRY who died in 1724 in Hailot was the son of John and Margaret BERRY. In 1679 Thomas married Elizabeth ROBERTSON at St. Wilfred, Melling. John BERRY who died in 1682 in Roeburndale married Margaret whose surname is unknown. Can you help me with any of these names? Thanks for your help. Darrel Walker dwalker2418@comcast.net
