Why not ? Are you sure of your 'facts'. There is a birth in 1931 daughter of James and Annie (nee Dighton) I think. Could this be her? Lancashire Online Parish Clerk shows this marriage: Marriage: 2 Oct 1836 St Mary the Virgin, Prestwich, Lancashire, England Leonard Barns - Oldham Alice Kay - (X), Oldham Witness: James Wright; George Kay Married by Banns by: Thomas Tolming Notes: [Groom's given name entered as Leonard, but signed Lenod] Register: Marriages 1834 - 1837, Page 307 Source: LDS Film 2356186 Leonard and Alice seem to appear in the 1841 and 1851 England censuses, although in 1851 (at least in Ancestry), the surname is spelled Burnes. Leonard seems to have been born c 1818 in Walmersley, Lancashire, as was Alice. In the 1851 census, they are shown with seven children - Hiram 12, Mary Ann 10, Henry 8, John 6, George 4, Alice 2, and Elizabeth 9 mos. In the 1841 census, Hiram is 2 and Mary is 1. This suggests (if it is the same family) that Elizabeth may have been born c 1850, in Walmersley, Lancashire. It looks like Hiram may have emigrated to Australia also, in 1860. He left on the Hope from Liverpool and arrived Melbourne, Australia on 21 June 1860. Kind regards, Rosemary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They also had a daughter Bridget who married an O'Connor and also lived on Tenterden Street. The only thing that puzzles me when looking at census returns for Tenterden Street is that they only appear to show houses of odd numbers i.e 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. Perhaps Patrick and Mary lived in an even numbered home that for some reason doesn't appear in the searches....
