Audrey, I have Darwen ancestors: Margaret Darwen, born about 1762, married Thomas Worden in 1785. The towns/villages associated with this family are Walton-Le-Dale and Sefton. I believe that Margaret's father's name was Thomas, but I have no information about the mother. Marion, I have Carter ancestors who appear in the Alderley records. Gamaliel Carter married to an Anne. My records are spotty in the early 1700 period, but I have been able to document Hannah Carter married to Richrd Massey and the line going forward. Hi Jane, The Parliamentary Archives site can be quite difficult. I've found the best way to search is to use the map option as follows: 1. Go to Records Online and click on Protestation Returns. 2. Page opens, click on Map icon (to the left of Search Results title). 3. Page opens, click on Globe (top right). 4. In Type a Placename of Postcode ..... type Ormskirk, options will appear, choose one. 5. On the same menu click Layers. Your Search Results is ON (green), switch the next line and a magnifier will appear on the map 6. Click on Globe again to get rid of menu 7. Click on scale - (minus) to view larger area, you can now move around the map and click when over the your area of interest. 8. Results will in box, click on the text (not image icon) to go results page, click on view images on the right to see results. 9. You can increase the size of the search zone by moving the slider on the Globe - Layer - magnifier slider. I've made this as simple as I can for those not familiar with the site.
