Hi Elsie, At the bottom of the email it should have a link like this "Click here to return to your My Wills page to access your wills." Clicking on that will take you to the web page where you ordered the will from. Once you login you can go to "My Wills" on the menu and you should see a list of wills that you have ordered and their status. If you haven't got a link you can just got to https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills and follow the above procedure. You can download your will from here. I'm glad to know my post made it and I hope it inspires people to attend the Rootstech conference as it is really worthwhile. By the way, Nivard, I see you live in Cornwall. WHen I last visited the UK (about 15 years ago), we went to COrnwall--St. Ives to be exact. I had heard that St. Ives was the inspiration for the town in Rosamond Pilcher's book, The Shellseekers, so we went there and did our own shell seeking on the beach and had an ice cream cone. I must say my knees did not particularly like the really steep hill--either going down or coming back up! This interesting and informative snippet was posted by London Westminster & Middlesex FHS: "On this day in 1870 the postcard was officially introduced, along with a halfpenny stamp. An interesting fact which can help date family photographs which have postcard backs is that picture postcards were not allowed until 1894 and in 1899 court size (the size we have today) was introduced, ie 5.5 inches x 3.5 inches." Hope someone finds this helpful in trying to date old picture postcards. Lynne

From Facebook: Fylde Branch of the Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society (LFHHS) "An invitation to all: "The Family History Branch Meeting to be held on 9th October at St Martin & St Hilda Carleton at 7.30.p.m. Open to all. "Phil Stringer is going to tell us about the school by the sea, now called AKS, which is an amalgamation of King Edward VII and Queen Mary both in Lytham and Arnold (boys) from Blackpool. All now housed in the building that was built for King Edward School. He intends to talk about the great flood of 1720, which was experienced by the whole area, not just Lytham, and how the funds for that became the Lytham Schools Foundation who built KES & QMS, with a short history of them. "Then moving on to the school archives and what is held for the three schools plus a small amount relating to Arnold girls. This will include examples of what may be found in any school archive depending on what was recorded and what has survived. He is hoping to bring a few examples of items currently held in the archives and will advise of when the archives are open. "There may be members or friends or relatives who attending one of these Schools, or maybe ancestors attended one of these schools. All are very impressive buildings. Also next month we have Evening Gazette cuttings from the past 20 years, including many school photographs."

Looking through the newspapers, there seem to be lot of people teaching shorthand and typing. Some records might survive for the bigger colleges but I doubt anything has survived from these smaller ones.
