It looks as though there was an estate in the area called Sagers. See: http://www.archive.org/stream/goosnarghpastpre00cookiala/goosnarghpastpre00cookiala_djvu.txtand search for Sager. It suggests the estate owed rent to a local school. There appear to have been people called Sagers living in the area. Whittingham hospital was a mental institution, and Goosnargh "hospital" is a home for old folks. However, as far as I am aware, neither was known as "Sagers". Hello Stephen, I know there was an Asylum in Whittingham, not far from Goosnargh for some years. I do not know any details, as I do not live in Lancashire, though many of my ancestors come from the area. Looking in Google; there was a hospital in Goosnargh, as well as in Whittingham, at the date you are interested in. Might be what you are looking for! Hi, I have been trying to locate my Cunningham family after the 1861 Census - plenty of Cunningham's but with lack of information due to the fact that my gtx2 grandfather James Cunningham hid the truth to his arrival in Western Australia.....being a transported convict as was his older brother Patrick. My gtx3 grandparents were James and Bridget Cunningham and the rest of the family were Ann, John and Bridget. The family left Ireland abt.1843 and lived in the Manchester area as all the children worked in the mills. Maybe I should put in a request to Santa to help me find the Cunningham's. Cheers Maz Perth, Western Australia
Hello I am still looking for the Baptism of my GG Grandmother SARAH ANN GREAVES who was born about 1821 in Limehurst, Lancashire. Her father was RICHARD GREAVES who was a Glassblower in 1840 and a Baker in 1846. I have everything else about her but I can't find a Baptism. She died in 1870 and is buried in St Michael's Church, Ashton under Lyne. Pat

Excellent idea, someone might get a lost rellie for xmas. My surnames are Cunningham, Hagan, Dixon, Bibby. All around Liverpool, 1860's to 1890's. Have been trying to find the birth of my ggrandfather Patrick Cunningham early 1860's in Liverpool for many many years. Cheers Lesley in Oz.
Still trying to prove the antecedants of my 4xgrandfather, SAMUEL OGDEN. He was married to BETTY HAWORTH, was a linen weaver, and lived in Blackley and surrounds. They had four children that I know of, including my 3x grandfather, JOHN OGDEN b. 1788. If anyone is connected to this OGDEN family, would love to hear from you! mary lou -----Original Message----- From: LW <daletara@optusnet.com.au> To: lancsgen <lancsgen@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sat, Nov 16, 2013 10:59 pm Subject: Re: [LAN] Swapping Info Excellent idea, someone might get a lost rellie for xmas.
