Jane Furbisher wife of Edward Furbisher (Innkeeper in Oldham) died Jul Qu 1842. Their son William was baptised and died in Jun 1842. I'd like to know where they are buried, if there is a record of their marriage anywhere and what Jane's maiden name was. An older son was born in 1841 so I presume the marriage was before this. Unfortunately in the 1841 census it says that Jane was not born in Lancashire so the marriage could have been anywhere. It is sometimes easier to work out which would be the local/closest burial grounds for the address they died at and contact the cemeteries direct. Many are managed by local authority cemeteries departments who may also do a search for you (although many charge for that service). Hi David Many thanks indeed for this full information. As you identify, his parents may be William Mossdale (Moulsdale) and wife Ann. As they were married in Ashton-under-Lyne so may have still been living in that area in 1841 and 1851. If you have easy access to these censuses may I please ask for a search of each for the family? There are a small number of church cemeteries that will not be included but there are MI of most these anyway. You can often deduce a bit from the free information on DeceasedOnline as seen before payment is needed, obviously provided the names are not too common. You can search on names and dates, you then see the name and date of burial. If you can find the person on the BMD then you can sometimes find the age at death. These will often identify the person. I tended to print out all the entries for the surnames I was interested in. Then sit down and try and work out who was who then get some further information on some of them. You could get a list of people buried in the grave, an image of the burial register (that would only show the single entry and not all the others in the grave), a plan showing position or a photograph. By the way, have you checked Lancashire OPC in case they are buried in a churchyard? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi Barry, If the 1851 census is the correct William MOULSDALE, and he marries a lady named Mary Ann (maybe in 1852-ish), and they eventually end up in Gloustershire, I have what I suspect are the appropriate 1861, '71, '81, '91 and 1901 census pages. In 1901, he is listed as having an Army Pension. hth David
