Hi Donna, Is this the James Collinge who was born 1842 in Oldham and married Betty Tilford Lord? Pauline in Darwen, Lancashire
I thought this was interesting in the FamilySearch wiki, although it probably doesn't apply in this case: https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Birth-baptism_intervals_for_family_historians Birth-baptism intervals for family historians, By Stuart Basten "... Finally, when a denomination opens a congregation in a new town, sometimes mass baptisms can occur. Again, these can often mean both children and adults either being baptized very late or even baptized twice. " - Dave

Bridgewater is where the Bridgewater Canal is - linked leigh to Runcorn and with leeds to liverpool with Manchester ship Canal but even now it doesnt seem to be a place in its own right as it comes under worsley/Eccles - as its small please did tend to have a very strong accent , wonder if it was meant to be Ridge way or something ? even that doesnt make sense thought as there wasnt such a place near there - or Bridge Hay / I can only think of it as Bridgewater - sorry cant help further Andrea Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This might offer a clue. There was a Bridges Way in Denton. But I cannot see a person arriving overseas saying Bridge ??? Manchester. Most would give a suburb not a street or road etc. I don't even know of any Manchester suburb that sounds remotely like Bridge. There is a Stalybridge, but I don't think that was part of Manchester in that time period.
