Does any one know if this barracks was unoccupied at the time of the 1861 census ? The census itself appears to contain just fourteen people, a Barracks Serjeant, aSutler and a Librarian plus their families. No soldiers at all. If it was occupied, are there no census returns ? Antony

Prescot vol 8b page1220 Jones, Mary Ann. Prescot vol 8b page 1220 There doesn't appear to be any online transcriptions of their marriage details that I can find; you will need to purchase their marriage certificate to gain further information. If you do order the certificate (I see you're in the US) order it from the GRO: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ using the above references. This is the cheapest method. It costs 9.25GBP including postage and takes roughly three weeks to arrive. Do NOT order it through any Genealogy websites or agents - they'll charge you a small fortune. . I have done an exhaustive search of Ancestry.com's and FamilySearch's marriage records and can not seem to find their's, which the 1911 census lists as being about 1897. He was from Clock face, Bole, Lancashire and she from Liverpool. Their children were: Catherine, Maguerita, John, Thomas Patrick, Norah, Joseph, Marie, Mildred, Florence, and William George Michael Carney.
